Bond Release in Shasta County
The Sheriff's jail page says a person posting cash bail needs the exact amount. It also says a verifiable personal check may be accepted up to $1,000, while a cashier's check or money order must be for the exact amount and made payable to Shasta County Superior Court. Bail is brought to Main Jail reception. A bail bond agency needs the charge and bail amount from custody staff.
This matters because a bond release is not the same as a dismissed case or completed sentence. The person may be out of the jail building while the criminal case remains active. Shasta Superior Court records then become the better source for hearing dates, disposition, bench warrant status, or later sentence terms.

California Government Code section 7923.610 treats the time and manner of release, or the current holding location, as part of the public arrest-information package unless a safety or investigation exception applies. Request Shasta County Release Records
When the public lookup and VINE do not prove a release, use Shasta County's public-records process. The county uses the NextRequest portal and also lists prarequest@shastacounty.gov for requests. Ask for the booking and release record for a named person and date range. Avoid broad criminal-history wording. For jail events, ask for the time and manner of release, booking number, charges or holds, bail, release type, and receiving agency if the person was transferred.

Shasta County says official records are held by departments under governing retention schedules. The county also says NextRequest requests and responsive records are deleted from that portal five years after the last responsive record is added. That five-year rule is about the portal posting, not a public jail-roster retention period.
Shasta County Court Release Clues
Shasta Superior Court is often the durable record after jail custody ends. The court's case-records page links to a public portal, but it warns that portal information is not the official record and may contain errors or omissions. It also notes that remote document display is limited for some case types under California Rules of Court 2.503.
The Criminal Division says name searches are limited to Shasta County cases and that name indexing and disposition information is not provided over the phone. Use the court case to check bail, dismissal, sentencing, probation, mandatory supervision, prison commitment, warrants, or later record-cleaning orders. For official copies, use the court records process rather than treating a jail roster result as the final case outcome.

The California Incarcerated Records and Information Search, or CIRIS, is the state path for people in or recently connected to CDCR custody. Shasta County's jail page links to the CDCR inmate locator for state prisons, which reflects the split between local jail custody and state-prison custody. If a Shasta County case led to a prison commitment, CDCR becomes the release system of record after local transfer.

Shasta County Recent Releases
No distinct official Shasta County 24-hour or 72-hour released-inmate feed was confirmed in the county sources reviewed. That absence is important. The official public path is current-custody oriented, then VINE, court, custody staff, and public-records request. If a person was in jail yesterday and is gone today, that result may indicate release or transfer, but it does not identify the release reason.

Shasta County Supervision After Release
Shasta County Probation's Adult Division supervises convicted felons granted probation, people placed on PRCS after release from state prison, and people sentenced to mandatory supervision. The Community Corrections Center is a distinct local post-release point. Shasta Probation says STOPP, Successful Transitions on Probation and Parole, is conducted monthly by Probation with CDCR Parole. People released from custody and under either agency's supervision are required to attend within 30 days, meet at least five service providers, and sign up for at least one service. That requirement can be a clue that a person has moved from custody into supervision.
Shasta VINE and Federal Releases
The Shasta Sheriff's VINE page gives a strong local detail: information is updated in near real time from the local booking system to VINE databases about every 15 minutes. VINE can notify a registered phone or email when custody status changes. It uses a four-digit PIN to confirm receipt, and automated calls continue until the PIN is entered or for 48 hours from the first notification.
Federal releases are separate. The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward and may show a release date or that the person is not in BOP custody. That does not prove there is no state, local, immigration, court, or supervision issue. U.S. Marshals Service custody and federal court records may be needed for federal pretrial or transfer cases.
Shasta County ICE Transfer Checks
Immigration custody is an overlay, not a Shasta release list. Local reporting in 2026 said the Shasta Sheriff's Office gave information about seven jail inmates to ICE in 2025. That report is local context only. It is not a rule for every release.
For an individual, confirm whether the jail release was a community release or a transfer. The release record should identify the time and manner of release and any receiving agency when the person did not simply leave to the community.
